Belize Birding Festival
Belize now boasts a growing population of avid birders to record, study and raise awareness for the conservation of birds and their natural habitats. Additionally, there are now more hotels and tour operators who offer birdwatching packages and services across the country.
The objective of the event is to connect birders, nature enthusiasts, tour operators, accommodations, guides and organizations with a bird conservation agenda to network, market and strengthen the appreciation for Belize’s spectacular natural beauty, biodiversity and promoting its almost 600 resident and migrant bird species.

Belize Birding Festival
The first Belize Birding Festival (BBF) was held in October of 2018 in Belmopan, Belize as a part of promoting bird-based tourism under the Interamerican Development Bank-Multilateral Investment Fund project “Strengthening bird-based tourism as a conservation and sustainable Development Tool”. This first event was organized by partners Belize Audubon Society, Belize Tourism Industry Association, Belize Hotel Association and other supporters. The first event was brough together close to 200 nature enthusiasts, birders, resorts, tour operators, tour guides, and conservationists.
The second BBF was held in October 2019 at the San Ignacio Resort Hotel and in 2023 at the Old Belize Pavilion after a three year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other logistical setbacks.
